Blue Jays make final practice a great One!

Saturday, October 23 Practice Report

The Blue Jays prepared for their final game of the season with a fantastic practice Saturday, October 23 at Whitman High School.

Batter Up!

John Wyatt introduced the baseball to the outfield with some big hits in practice. We are looking forward to seeing John bat against the Tigers.

Sam Berman blasted hit after hit during Saturday's practice. His line drives to right field were surefire extra base hits! Sam also crushed grounders up the middle.

Braden Poon swung hard, sending balls flying past the infield. Watch out, Tigers! Take a few steps back when Braden's at the plate.

Coach Steve says Ethan Yu is M.I.B. - Most Improved Batter! In the last two weeks Ethan has taken on a new middle name Ethan "Slugger" Yu. Ethan is ready to run the bases against the Tigers!

George Roggie attacked the ball during Saturday's practice. After tapping a few hits to his teammates, George decided it was time to send the ball on a trip to the outfield. Watch out, ball. George is coming to get you!
Jake Schuman listened closely to Coach Steve's advice. He stood up straight but bent his knees more. He also took the bat back farther and Pow! Jake found even more power to be a super duper mega power hitter. Tigers beware!

Force Outs 101

The Blue Jays are great athletes and they are also great thinkers! The team focused on strategy as it learned about force outs!

The players studied several runner scenarios to determine how they could make the most outs.

The players took turns running the bases while the rest of the team worked on getting them out by stepping on the correct base.

They even learned that they need to stay on base if the other team catches a pop fly.

Pop Fly Drill

We hope the Tigers practiced running back to the base after a catch because the Blue Jays are ready to catch fly balls.

Working together, the six practicing Blue Jays caught 20 fly balls.

Special recognition goes out to John Wyatt who for the first time this season caught three fly balls in a row.

John's teammates shared in the celebration after he caught the final ball in the final Fall practice pop fly drill.

Pitching In

Thanks to Steve Berman for playing catcher and base runner.

Final Game

The Blue Jays will end the fall season versus the Tigers Sunday, October 24, at 2:30pm at Westbrook Elementary School. Please try to arrive at 2:00pm so that we can warm up and arrange the batting order.

We will bat first because we are the visiting team. Considering that it is now late October, we could not ask for a better game time forecast!

Thanks to the Poon Family for signing up to bring the post game snacks. Thanks also to Dina Zupnik and Kevin Conner for volunteering to bring the drinks.

Please plan to stay after the game for a brief postseason celebration. We will present a BCC Baseball pin to each player and provide a special treat!

Go Blue Jays!

Let's have fun, do our best, and demonstrate great sportsmanship in our season-ending game with the Tigers!

Coach Steve & Sarah
