Blue Jays ready for Final Game & Party!

Three Blue Jays - Ryder Coleman, George Roggie, and Ava Curley - practiced before admiring family members Saturday, June 12 at Westbrook Elementary.

The Blue Jays complete the 2010 Spring BCC Season Sunday, June 13 at Norwood Park with a make-up game with the Diamondbacks. Game time is 4:00 p.m. We ask that you try to be there at 3:30 so that we can get ready and arrange the batting order. We are the visitors, so we will bat first!

Spring 2010 Party and Trophies

We hope that everyone can stay after the game so that we can celebrate the season together. There will be pizza and dessert for all players, parents and siblings.

All players will receive trophies to commemorate their participation this season.

We will also distribute applications for the Fall 2010 BCC Blue Jays season.

Weather

Sunday's forecast calls for a chance of thunderstorms. We are heartened by the fact that the likelihood of rain appears to have diminished slightly.

However, if our game is rained out, we still plan to have the party and the trophy presentation!

We will keep you updated as circumstances warrant.

Saturday, June 12 Practice Report

George Roggie began batting practice with a flurry of really great hits! George pounded bouncing grounders through the left side of the infield, smacked line drives to center field, and hit some hot smashes to right shortstop!

Ava Curley was great at the plate! She knocked several hits past the left pitcher's helper. Later, she decided to take the ball the other way, hitting a ground ball and a line drive to the right side of the infield. Ava smashed one hit up the middle so hard that Coach Steve was glad that he was wearing his mitt!

Ryder Coleman gave himself a reason to smile with every swing. He consistently ripped line drives all over the field for the second consecutive practice! Ryder's swing has really become a sight to behold!

Here, Ava Curley gets in front of the ball to field a hot grounder. Ava did a super job covering lots of ground all afternoon!

George Roggie continued to impress with his fielding wizardry! George caught yet another fly ball - a hot smash off the bat of Ryder Coleman - in Saturday's practice! Great job, George!

Velocity and Accuracy

The Blue Jays worked hard to improve their throwing skills. Above, Ryder Coleman delivers a fine toss toward the target!

Just look at Ava Curley's throwing form! Ava did a great job listening and learning. Her hard work paid off handsomely. Here, Ava puts some serious zip on the ball!

George Roggie has always had a big arm. He used Saturday's practice to increase his accuracy. His throws consistently landed near the target!

Big Help on a Hot Day

Thanks to Tom Curley for catching. As you see in the photo above, Tom was fortunate to have lots of help!

Here, the Blue Jays enjoy some well deserved refreshments during a break in practice. They did a great job on a very hot day!

We hope to see everyone Sunday, June 13 for pizza, trophies, and - we hope - our final baseball game of the season!

Go Blue Jays!

Coach Steve
