The Blue Jays put the finishing touch on a fantastic Spring BCC season with an outstanding performance against the Diamondbacks Sunday, June 13 at Norwood Park. These are special kids from very special families. It was our privilege to coach them.
Thanks to all of the parents who went out of their way to get the players to practices and games this season. We love having you all on the team and hope that you will return to the Blue Jays for the Fall BCC season!
June 13 Game Report
Braden Poon was a fielding dynamo in the game with the Diamondbacks! Here, Braden scoops up a ground ball and heads straight for the runner who was trying to score. Braden tagged the runner out just before he reached home plate!

Here, Braden calmly steps on 3rd base for a force out after fielding a ground ball. Braden later stopped another ground ball and stepped on 3rd base for a second force out. He capped his brilliant day by catching a fly ball in the air! That's four outs in a single game - a new Blue Jays record!

Above, Michael Hardie works on catching pop-ups before the game. Practice paid off handsomely for Michael in the third inning, when he reached out and plucked a fly ball in the air for an out. That was an awesome play!

George Roggie got the defense going in the first inning. He cleanly fielded a bouncing ball and stepped on 3rd base for the put-out.

Justin Conner looked really cool in his sunglasses and made some great plays in the field. Justin snatched a high bouncer at the right pitcher's helper position. Later, he fielded another grounder and made a great throw to Michael Hardie at 1st base. Justin worked hard, tracking down balls all over the field!

Ryder Coleman also did a great job at right pitcher's helper. Ryder nabbed a ground ball and delivered a very accurate throw to 1st base. He played heads-up defense all afternoon!

Suzanne Pearl and Ava Curley contributed some terrific stops on defense. Playing 2nd base, Suzanne made an incredible stop of a very hard hit ground ball. Ava was a fielding fiend in center field, stopping Diamondbacks runners by racing to the ball and getting it back to the infield!

Here, Sam Berman prepares to run to 2nd base. He also did a great job playing 2nd base and left shortstop in the field. Sam stopped some high bouncing balls at both positions. They were difficult plays, but Sam made them look easy!

Aleka Frazier worked to improve her throwing prior to the game. Just look at that beautiful form. She looks like she's been tossing the ball around the diamond for years! Aleka played heads-up defense at right shortstop and 3rd base. She had a terrific game!
Going out with a Bang!
Ava Curley saved her best hits for the final game of the season. Her hard work in practice the last two weeks really paid off. Ava scorched a line drive over Coach Steve's head. She hit another line drive down the 1st base line. She knocked a grounder through the middle of the infield. Ava's hits were awesome!

Sam Berman demonstrated the latest in slugging fashion in the game with the Diamondbacks. He got a new batting helmet and batting gloves for his sixth birthday, and he proved that he knows how to use them. Sam hit well in every trip to the plate!

The Blue Jays can always count on Justin Conner's sweet swing. Justin did not disappoint in the game with the Diamondbacks. He consistently lined the ball to the right side of the infield, reaching base and driving in runs in yet another impressive offensive display!

Suzanne Pearl might be the greatest hitter ever to wear pink shorts! She made quick work of each at-bat, knocking solid grounders up the middle and to the left side of the infield. Suzanne was terrific!

Michael Hardie continued to hit the ball with authority. Michael crushed grounders to left shortstop and 2nd base, reaching 1st base safely in each at-bat! Michael had an excellent game!

Ryder Coleman was his typical highly focused self at the plate. This kid is becoming an offensive force! Ryder finished off the season with three solid hits through the middle of the infield.

Above, Aleka Frazier prepares to smack one of her three tremendous hits! Aleka pounded two solid grounders to 3rd base and hit another one straight up the middle.

George Roggie reached 1st base safely in all three trips to the plate. After bouncing two ground balls through the middle of the infield, George knocked a hot line drive between the 3rd baseman and the left shortstop!

Braden Poon ended the season in fine style, hitting the ball with authority in each at-bat. He lined a hit to 2nd base with blistering velocity. Braden also kicked up some serious dirt with a couple of hard grounders!
Plenty of Help
Thanks to Phil Pearl for catching the second and third innings. Phil kindly took over for Torsdon Poon, who caught the 1st inning. Thanks also to Landon Poon for coaching 1st base!
We really appreciate all of the help that we have received from parents and siblings at every practice and game this season! Thank you!

As always, the Blue Jays demonstrated terrific sportsmanship, congratulating the Diamondbacks for a great game! Somebody should give those kids trophies!
