Five Blue Jays worked hard, had fun, and got really hot at practice Saturday, June 5 at Westbrook Elementary School. Michael Hardie, George Roggie, Braden Poon, Sam Berman and Ava Curley looked great as they prepared for the big rematch with the Tigers.
The game Sunday, June 6 begins at 4:00 p.m. at
Norwood Park. We ask that you be there at 3:30 so that we can set the infield positions and establish the batting order. We are the home team!
Please bring lots of water. The
forecast calls for more heat and humidity and a chance of a thundershower. Let's hope that the latter holds off until after the game!
June 5 Practice Report
Sam Berman got batting practice off to a great start, knocking hits around the diamond with ease! Unfortunately, Sam did not get many good pitches to hit, but when he did he knew what to do with them.

George Roggie pounded hits on the ground and in the air. He saved his best for last, smacking a line drive through the middle of the field that caused Coach Steve to duck!

Michael Hardie is quickly becoming a reliable slugger! Michael crushed line drives that gave his teammates a great opportunity to work on fielding hard hits.

Ava Curley improved with every swing. Here, Ava sizes up a pitch before belting a ground ball to 3rd base. Ava later cracked a line drive to the left shortstop!

Braden Poon showed that working at the batting cage has increased his bat speed. Braden socked grounders and line drives past 2nd base and into center field!
Catching on in the Field
Ava Curley worked hard on her throwing during Saturday's practice. Here, Ava shows great form, throwing to 1st base as George Roggie watches admiringly.

George had a great day in the field. He caught a fly ball and delivered very accurate throws during infield practice. Later, George caught more fly balls during the pop-up drill!

Braden Poon showed off his laser-rocket arm during infield practice. Braden put some serious mustard on his picture-perfect throw from left pitcher's helper to 1st base! That was some serious velocity!

Sam Berman made plays all over the field! Here, Sam throws the ball back to the pitcher after making a great stop at 1st base. Sam stopped just about everything that was thrown near him!

Michael Hardie finished the pop-up drill with a great catch of a fly ball at 2nd base. Michael caught several pop flies and did a great job catching his teammates' throws at 1st base!
Helping Hands
Thanks to Steve Berman for catching the first half of practice on a very hot afternoon.

Steve was relieved by Torsdon Poon, who also collected baseballs during the fly ball drill and gathered the bases after practice. Thanks, Torsdon!

Practice ended when this visitor decided to eat lunch in left field. We tried to convince the deer to wear a Blue Jays hat for this picture, but it did not seem to be interested.
Great practice, Blue Jays!
We look forward to seeing everyone Sunday, June 6 at Norwood Park for our game with the Tigers!
Coach Steve
