Sun shines on Blue Jays' Practice

Abundant sunshine greeted the Blue Jays at practice Saturday, September 18. The eight players in attendance took advantage, working hard to improve their hitting, fielding, throwing and base running.

Together, we had fun, did our best, and demonstrated great teamwork and sportsmanship!

Saturday, September 18 Practice Report

The Blue Jays are thrilled to have Michael Hardie back for his third season with the team! Michael wasted no time getting back in mid-season form, smacking scorching line drives and ground balls to the outfield. Michael also caught a fly ball during the pop-up drill!

Sam Berman began practice by pounding the ball past the infield in batting practice. Sam also demonstrated outstanding skills in the field. Above, Sam prepares to throw the ball the first base for an out!

George Roggie made a great catch of Sam's perfect throw. These two make for a formidable fielding tandem! George also did a great job in batting practice, attacking the ball with his powerful swing.

John Wyatt is improving with every swing, catch and throw! Saturday, John made consistent contact and demonstrated increased power at the plate. He also did a great job tracking down grounders in the infield. John's throws were particularly impressive. He really gets the ball where he wants it to go!

William Amorosi is another Blue Jay who showed tremendous improvement in Saturday's practice. William whacked several hits through the middle of the infield. Above, he delivers a perfect throw to Coach Steve. William also did a great job making sure that he touched every base when he ran the bases.

The very photogenic Jeremy Robertson also happens to be an emerging force in the batter's box! Jeremy had many solid hits in batting practice. He also tracked down grounders in the infield. This guy is ready to play in Sunday's game!

Don't let that pretty face fool you. Ava Curley is the embodiment of grit and determination on the baseball diamond! Ava might have chased down more ground balls than any other player in Saturday's practice. She also hit the ball extremely well, cracking grounders and a fly ball down the 3rd base line.

Ethan Yu handled the bat impressively in Saturday's practice. He smashed grounders past the shortstop and into left field. Ethan also did a great job listening and learning during fielding practice. He gave his teammates a great target at 1st base.

The Mamas and the Papas

Once again, we received unsolicited but much appreciated help from Blue Jays parents! Kristina Wyatt took a turn catching and shot several photos that we hope to share with everyone very soon. Steve Berman put in a typically outstanding effort at catcher during batting practice.

Let the Games Begin!

The Blue Jays will play the Giants Sunday, September 19 at 2:30pm at Westbrook Elementary School. As always, we ask that you do your best to arrive 30 minutes before game time so that we can warm up, arrange the batting order and establish our positions for the 1st inning.

We will bat first because we are the visiting team. We are happy to report that the game day forecast is outstanding!

Thanks to Mark and Sharon Amorosi for volunteering to bring the snacks. Thanks also to Kristina and Richard Wyatt for agreeing to bring the drinks.

Go Blue Jays!

Let's have fun, do our best, and demonstrate great sportsmanship in our game with the Giants!

Coach Steve
