May 1 Practice: Blue Jays prepare for Orioles!

Hi Blue Jays!

Thanks to everyone who came to practice Saturday, May 1!

Our game Sunday, May 2 is at Wood Acres Elementary School. We play the Orioles at 4:00 p.m. Of course, we ask that everybody try to be there at 3:30.

May 1 Practice Report

Michael Hardie and George Roggie took advantage of the early 11:00 a.m. practice to get in some fantastic hits. Above, Michael holds some honeysuckle that he picked after practice.

Don't let that friendly face fool you. Michael slugged multiple hits to left field. He even tried batting left-handed and promptly collected a hit. George did a great job fielding the ball. Karen Hardie took a fine turn at catcher.

Just like Michael, George was outstanding at the plate. He continued to pound the ball to right shortstop and right field. Michael's smooth fielding was the only thing that prevented George from hitting even more balls to the outfield.

The afternoon practice featured Suzanne Pearl, Braden Poon and James Aitken. Unfortunately, Coach Steve was too hot, tired and busy to get pictures of Braden and James. Nevertheless, both players did a super job in batting practice.

In the photograph above, Suzanne tells her sister, Natalie, about her plans to whack the ball farther than she ever has before. And, boy, did she deliver! Suzanne parked pitches in left field with regularity. Her hits were incredible!

In fielding practice, Braden did an awesome job at 1st base. James made good stops and good decisions at left pitcher's helper. Suzanne was her typical smooth self at right shortstop.

Thank You, Parents!

Thanks to Karen Hardie, Phil Pearl and Richard Aitken for taking turns catching. Maria Pearl and Richard Aitken did a fantastic job running the bases during infield practice. Torsdon Poon provided help in the field.

Participation by Blue Jays Parents really made these practices successful!

Thanks also to Maureen Curley for volunteering to bring the postgame treats tomorrow.

We'll see you Sunday, May 2 for our game with the Orioles.

Coach Steve
