The game between the Blue Jays and the Orioles Sunday, May 2 at Wood Acres Elementary School was an example of BCC Baseball at its best. Both teams had fun, played their best, worked together and exhibited terrific sportsmanship. Thanks to the Orioles for an awesome game!
May 2 Game Report

The Blue Jays were the home team and began the game on the field. Above, James Aitken gets in position to make stops at left pitcher's helper. James showed us what he had learned in Saturday's practice, stopping multiple hard hits in the 1st inning. James later moved to 2nd base, where he cleanly fielded a ground ball and stepped on the base for an unassisted put-out.

Second base was a busy spot for the Blue Jays. In the 1st inning, George Roggie snagged a scorching bouncer up the middle and coolly stepped on second for a force-out.

Braden Poon took over at left pitcher's helper in the second inning. He did a great job on a high pop-up, very nearly catching the ball in the air for an out. Braden also made a fabulous stop on a grounder and threw accurately to George Roggie, who made the catch at 3rd base.

Above, Suzanne Pearl makes a move to tag the Orioles' runner after she smoothly fielded a ground ball at right shortstop. Suzanne also played 1st base for the very first time and did very well.

The look on Ryder Coleman's face says it all. The Blue Jays were ready to play - in the field, at the plate, and on the base paths.
Smashing Success for Blue Jays' Bats

Allen Tousi enjoyed his best game yet at the plate. Allen's first two hits were very good, but he saved his best for last. Allen's 3rd inning smash might still be rolling through left field!

Ava Curley saw lots of action running the bases, the result of three singles that she spread around the diamond. Ava continued to make great contact in every trip to the plate.

As you see in the photo above, James Aitken was all business in the game with the Orioles. James consistently air-mailed fly balls to the left side of the infield.

Sam Berman gave the Blue Jays an offensive spark with his blinding speed and aggressive base-running. Sam also hit the ball in all directions.

Take a moment to appreciate Ryder Coleman's beautiful batting stance. Is it any wonder that Ryder came through with three of the best hits of his budding BCC Baseball career? Ryder ripped two line drives and a hot grounder straight up the middle.
Teammates
As a team, the Blue Jays are playing better and better every week. They also appear to be having lots of fun. For example, check out the two lovely ladies below.

Not to be outdone, the gentlemen also appear to be bonding with their teammates.

We are halfway through the Spring BCC Season, and it seems that this team is coming together quite nicely.

Parents, Too!
Thanks to Torsdon Poon for helping Sarah install and remove the bases. Maria Pearl was kind enough to bring fruit for everyone.
The players were particularly grateful to Maureen Curley, who wisely chose ice pops for the postgame snacks on a very hot and humid afternoon.

Great game, Blue Jays!
We are already excited to see all of you next weekend!
Coach Steve
