Blue Jays have fun, play great vs. Diamondbacks!

Chilly temperatures and gusty winds that occasionally turned the field into a dust bowl failed to prevent this fearless flock of Blue Jays from having fun and playing well versus the Diamondbacks Sunday, April 18, at North Chevy Chase Park. The Blue Jays are not only extremely cute (see photo above), but also hard-working, fun-loving teammates who always demonstrate good sportsmanship. Coach Steve is very proud of this team.

April 18 Game Report

For the second consecutive week, the Blue Jays were the home team and started the game on the field. Above, Aleka Frazier demonstrates how she fields ground balls at 2nd base.

Several Blue Jays showed us what they learned at Saturday's practice, making force-outs Sunday against the Diamondbacks. Above, Braden Poon scrambles to beat the runner to 3rd base for an out. Braden collected two unassisted outs in the game.

Sam Berman, who always has his game face on, made an unassisted force-out and stopped several hard-hit balls at 3rd base. Michael Hardie chipped in with an unassisted out at 1st base. George Roggie made a heads-up play at the 1st base position, grabbing a ground ball and running to home plate for a force-out.

Blue Jays Hit and Run

Michael Hardie swung a hot bat on a cold day. Here, Michael sprints around the bases after slugging one of his three hits to left field.

The whole team gave a hearty cheer for Ava Curley, who smacked three solid singles through the infield. Ava came through with clutch hits in all three innings!

Aleka Frazier followed Ava in the batting order and delivered three great hits of her own. In the picture above, Aleka legs-out one of the Blue Jays' many runs.

Ryder Coleman ripped three hits through the infield and made a great stop on a sharply hit ground ball in left field.

Justin Conner batted from the lead-off spot and continued to spray hits to every corner of the diamond.

James Aitken drove in runs with three awesome hits. Here, James scores a run for the Blue Jays in the 3rd inning.

Above, George Roggie strikes a slugger's pose after whacking the ball to the right shortstop.

Allen Tousi crushed the ball in each of his three trips to the plate. Here, Allen ends the game with a smash to the left shortstop.

Blue Jays' MVP

The MVP - Most Valuable Parent - for the April 18 game was Kevin Conner. His yeoman's work included catching for both the Blue Jays and the Diamondbacks, snapping many of the outstanding game photos you see here, collecting the bases after the game, and, most importantly, bringing the post-game snacks for the team! Thanks also to Landon Poon, Braden's older brother, for giving Mr. Conner some relief behind the plate in the 3rd inning. Thanks also to Torsdon Poon for helping us set up the bases prior to the game!

We also want to thank all of the Blue Jays' parents for standing out in the cold and cheering on the team!

The Blue Jays are Winners!

The Blue Jays are winners because they have fun, stay safe, try their best, support each other, and show good sportsmanship. They also happen to be very photogenic!

Next Week

We'll post more pictures, as well as practice and game times and locations, later this week.

Go Blue Jays!

Coach Steve
