Opponents' Scouting Reports
Nationals 9/8 and 10/13 - new machine-pitch team formerly known as the Pirates (Phillips) in coach-pitch..
Orioles 9/15 - familiar rival that beat us in a great 4-3 game at the end of the spring season. Half of the Orioles' roster spent the summer playing in 8u travel tournaments even though they, like many of us, were 7u at the time. Almost all of the Orioles are rising 2nd graders with skills beyond their years. The kids are VERY into baseball and it shows. The coaching staff is deep and experienced.
White Sox 9/22 - experienced Little League team that plays BCC in fall. They lost a one-run game to the Nationals in Week #2.
Mets (Levine) - apparently, this team is good. It beat the Orioles in a surprisingly one-sided game, 17-8, back in May. The Mets reached the five-run limit in three of their five offensive innings. Given the Orioles ability to play in the field, I think it's safe to say that the Mets can hit.
Cardinals (O'Donoghue) - new team that is coached by the Whitman HS varsity softball coach and her husband. The team consists of the coach's son and his friends. This team lost a competitive 16-9 game to the Orioles in Week #1. It appears to be a credible opponent that has some strong players despite its lack of experience as a team.
