Blue Jays learn a lot in great Finale!

Every player on the Blue Jays' roster had fun and performed admirably in a hotly contested game with the Tigers Sunday, October 23 at Avenel Park.

Gavin Ferguson, Jeremy Robertson, William Amorosi, George Roggie, Andre Schnider, Jake Schuman, Braden Poon, John Wyatt, Jack Raymond, Ryan Groban, Ethan Yu and Sam Berman completed a terrific season with a great effort against a very good team.

The tough competition allowed the players and coaches to learn a lot. We were very proud of the teamwork and sportsmanship that was demonstrated by everyone.

The final score was Tigers 18, Blue Jays 12.

October 23 Game Report

Braden Poon hit in the lead-off spot and delivered great contact and ample power in a flawless 4-for-4 performance.

Above, Braden engages the afterburners on his way to a double in the fourth inning. Braden came through with two doubles, two singles and a run scored in a highly productive afternoon.

Braden played well at 1st base. Here, he stretches to make the catch on a close play in the first inning.

George Roggie kept the momentum going from the second spot in the batting order. Above, George prepares to advance the base runners with a line drive single to left field.

George collected three singles, scored a run, and notched an RBI in another great day at the plate.

Ethan Yu did some damage at the plate in the second inning.

After blasting the ball to the shortstop, Ethan hustled to beat the throw at 1st base. His effort was rewarded with an RBI single.

Ethan did a great job in the field at 2nd base, stopping two bouncing grounders and delivering accurate throws to 1st base on two very close plays.

William Amorosi made great contact and gave the Blue Jays some fantastic production in the clean-up spot.

Here, William pulls in to 1st base safely in the first inning. William's hitting exploits included two singles and an RBI.

William also did a fine job in the field. He played two innings at shortstop, one at catcher, and two in the outfield.

Gavin Ferguson worked hard and learned a lot this season. Above, Gavin demonstrates his balanced batting stance at the plate in the fourth inning.

Gavin swung the bat aggressively in the game with the Tigers. His hitting approach will serve him well in what promises to be a very bright future with the Blue Jays!

After attending every practice and game this season, Gavin did a great job paying attention in the field. Above, he gets ready to field the ball at the shortstop position.

Jake Schuman enjoyed a breakout hitting performance in the season's final game. Above, Jake knocks a single to right field in the fourth inning.

Jake's 3-for-3 day included two triples, two runs scored, and one RBI. The big guy was hot!

A highly skilled 3rd baseman, Jake charged to the ball and fielded several well hit grounders at the hot corner. He also made a great effort on a foul ball pop fly that nearly went out of play.

Sam Berman completed an amazing season with another flawless 3-for-3 performance.

Sam collected a double, two singles, two runs scored and two RBI. Above, Sam rounds 3rd base and digs for home.

Here, Sam gets a handle on a difficult bouncer at pitcher's helper. Sam's smooth fielding was key to the Blue Jays' defensive efforts throughout the season.

Jeremy Robertson became a significant offensive force during the fall 2011 season.

Jeremy ended the fall campaign with a 3-for-3 performance that included a double, two singles, two runs scored, and an RBI.

Jeremy also saw plenty of action in the field. Above, he stands ready at 3rd base in the first inning. Jeremy also played well in left field.

Ryan Groban capped a terrific first season with the Blue Jays with another outstanding offensive performance.

Ryan is all smiles when he wears the catcher's gear. Above, he suits up with help from his mom. Ryan also made a great play at 2nd base, cleanly fielding a sharp grounder and tagging the runner for an unassisted out.

Andre Schnider has always been a big run producer for the Blue Jays. Sunday's game was no exception!

Andre smacked a double and a single, scored a run, and collected two RBI.

Here, Andre makes a difficult stop at pitcher's helper in the first inning. He also played very well at 2nd base and in right field.

John Wyatt spent the afternoon using his bat to help his teammates advance on the base paths.

John reached 1st base on a fielder's choice and collected two runs batted in.

Another player who enjoys the catcher position, John made some fine plays in the field. In addition to his work behind the plate, John stopped two well hit ground balls at 2nd base.

Jack Raymond gave the Blue Jays strength and production from the final spot in the batting order.

Above, Jack races to 1st base and collects an RBI in the second inning. Jack smashed two singles, scored two runs, and drove in a run.

Jack also made some fantastic stops behind the plate in the first inning.

After a very fun and competitive game, the Blue Jays congratulated the Tigers, a highly skilled, well trained team that played at a very high level.

Pitching In

Tom Yu kept the Blue Jays pointed in the right direction all season long.

Thanks, Tom, for everything!

Brian Ferguson was a fixture in the 3rd base coaching box this season.

Thanks, Brian, for stepping up and doing so much in your first season with the team!

Blue Jays parents are indeed deserving of applause!

Mark Amorosi helped the catchers get suited up. Derrick Raymond cut short a family trip so that Jack could play. Brian Ferguson helped in more ways than we can recall.

Marty Schnider spent much of the game holding the hitting stick for batters in the on deck circle.

We had more helpers than we could photograph!

Susan Poon and Steve Berman made for an outstanding score keeping tandem.

Susan and Torsdon Poon provided the post game drinks.

Kristina Wyatt treated the team to pizza after the game.

We did get a good photo of all star bat boy Josef Robertson.

But we did not get a shot of his mom, Trista Robertson, because she took the pictures.

Thanks, Trista!

Great Team, Great Season!

Thanks to everyone for making the fall 2011 season our best one yet!

The Blue Jays will return to action in April 2012.

We can't wait!

Go Blue Jays!

Coach Steve
