Blue Jays ready for Senators!

Five Blue Jays worked hard and had lots of fun at practice Saturday, May 8. Above, Ryder Coleman, Michael Hardie, Sam Berman and George Roggie take a moment to mug for the camera at Westbrook Elementary School. James Aitken came straight from his soccer game, arriving just moments after the official team photographer (Sarah Roggie) had to leave.

The Blue Jays play the Senators Sunday, May 9 at North Chevy Chase Park. Game time is 4:00 p.m. We encourage everyone to arrive at 3:30 so that we can warm up and arrange the batting order. We are the visiting team, so we will bat first!

We look forward to celebrating Mother's Day together!

May 8 Practice Report

George Roggie and Michael Hardie were first on the field at Saturday's practice. In the photo above, George reaches for Michael's outstanding throw to 2nd base. George and Michael did an awesome job in fielding practice. The Blue Jays are getting closer and closer to making put-outs with regularity!

They were also outstanding at the plate. Above, Michael does a great job, watching the ball and sizing-up the pitch before blasting a shot to left field. Michael must have had at least 20 hits!

Michael's super hitting gave George lots of opportunities to make great plays in the field. George did a fabulous job, moving his feet, getting in front of the ball, and fluidly fielding Michael's blazing hits! George also hit very well, pulling some pitches to right field and taking others the other way down the 3rd base line.

Sam Berman's all-around play was incredible. Here, Sam prepares to deliver one of many accurate throws that he made Saturday afternoon. Sam also caught the ball extremely well at 2nd base and at 1st base. When it came time to hit, Sam was terrific, pulling low pitches down the 3rd base line and blasting higher pitches to the right side of the infield.

Ryder Coleman followed up his great game last week with a great practice Saturday. Above, Ryder throws to 1st base for an out. Ryder made super plays at 2nd base and at both shortstop positions. He also continued to hit the ball well, lacing line drives through the middle of the field!

James Aitken arrived in time to take batting practice. James continued to whack the ball to the left side of the infield. He also began to hit more line drives. Unfortunately, we don't have a picture of James from Saturday's practice, so you'll have to take our word for it. He was great!

Parental Appreciation

Thanks to our catching platoon composed of Karen Hardie and Steve Berman. Both did a great job.

In the photo above, Karen prepares to catch George Roggie's throw and apply the tag to base runner Michael Hardie. Michael was safe, but George and Karen both gave a superb effort!

Thanks also to Mary Tousi for offering to bring the postgame treats this week.

Mother's Day with the Blue Jays!

We wish all Blue Jays moms a Happy Mother's Day! We can't wait to see all of you Sunday at North Chevy Chase Park for our game with the Senators!

Go Blue Jays!

Coach Steve
