Blue Jays: big hits and big fun versus Tigers!

The rain held off long enough for the Blue Jays to shower the field with hits against the Tigers Sunday, April 25 at Norwood Park. Together, the seven sluggers in the picture above belted the ball to all corners of the infield and outfield. This was a day when parents and fans could sit back and admire an awesome offensive display!

April 25 Game Report

The hit parade began with Andre Schnider's blast down the right field line. Here, Andre rounds third and heads for a home run.

Suzanne Pearl had no difficulty putting the bat on the ball. Here, Suzanne crosses home plate to score another run for the Blue Jays.

Introducing, Blue Jays Video!!!

The action was so intense that mere photographs were not sufficient to do it justice. Therefore, we proudly present Blue Jays Video! Click on the "Play" arrows below to view highlights from the game with the Tigers.

In our first clip, Braden Poon smashes a shot to the Tigers' first baseman, whose diving attempt to field the ball is interrupted when he collides with the Jays' Justin Conner. All of the Blue Jays reached base safely on this play.

George Roggie enjoyed his best game yet at the plate. George smacked four line drives to the outfield. In the video below, George hammers a shot to right field in the second inning.

Sometimes, great offense is all about great hustle. No one understands this better than Sam Berman. Below, Sam reaches 1st base safely because he continues to run hard, even though it looks like he'll be thrown out. Sam shows us why you always run as fast as you can, no matter what!

Below, Sam is rewarded for his hustle as he stands on 1st base, ready to run and eventually score another run for the Blue Jays!

Picture Perfect: More Blue Jays Hits!

Braden Poon scorched several foul balls down the 1st base line early in the game. Later, he straightened it out and slammed a hit straight through the middle of the field. It might have gone all the way to center field. Unfortunately, much like his hit in the season opener, Braden's line drive ran into a slow-moving object, namely Coach Steve.

Golden Gloves

Justin Conner and Michael Hardie delivered their normal array of fantastic hits versus the Tigers. Both players also made some sterling plays in the field.

Justin was fantastic at 3rd base. He knocked down one hard hit with his shoulder and two with his mitt. Justin hustled all over the field to track down the ball for the Blue Jays.

Michael made great plays from the moment he took the field. Above, Michael looks to throw to 2nd base. Later, he stopped a ground ball and threw to Andre Schnider at 1st. Below, Andre prepares to catch Michael's perfect throw.

That's a great job by Michael and Andre!

Above, George Roggie jumps for joy after moving to his right from the right shortstop position, snagging a ground ball, and stepping on 2nd base for an unassisted force out.

Another Great Game

The Blue Jays shook hands and congratulated the Tigers for a great game. Both teams tried hard and played well.

Thanks to Karen and John Hardie for going so far out of their way to bring the snacks. Thanks also to Marty Schnider for catching all three innings!

Great game, Blue Jays!

Coach Steve
